Send images and video from SD cards over Wi-Fi!
I’ve been curious about this for a while now.
I figured the transfer speed would be slow anyway.
So I hadn’t bought one until now.
The other day, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100M2 already had Wi-Fi
built in, so I had them transfer images to a device and got a feel for it.
Eye-Fi can send to a configured device and a PHOTO site in the cloud.
It’s possible!
And it’s not selective image transfer either—
it automatically transfers everything, so if you leave the power on, it uploads on its own.
You never have to eject the SD card.
For someone like me who ejects the SD card multiple times a day,
it’s a really great item.
That said, transfer does take a few minutes, so it’s perfect for people who don’t mind leaving it alone.
I did a quick test setup and it had transferred to my PC and Picasa.
Pretty good!
Of course, the Sony NEX-7 and Nikon D800 work too.
I heard rumors that the PQI Air is the one for serious RAW data, so I ended up buying it, but… hmm.
Maybe the PQI Air is for the real enthusiasts?
This one didn’t recognize the Nikon D800, though.
These kinds of SD cards are pretty pricey.
