First, I’m going to polish the body nicely.

When you touch it and oil gets sticky on your hands, nobody likes that feeling.
If it can be wiped clean, I want to make sure it’s finished properly.

I also had the breather cover wet blasted.

If you think it looks beat up and old, it’s better to replace the horn.

A long time ago when I did the Z1R harness replacement,
unexpectedlythere was a fuse-blowing issue caused by an internal horn wire break.
That was really troublesome. It turned out to be the horn of all things at the very end.
Looking back, it seems like I always have painful experiences with electrical issues on Z bikes.

Body grounding is important for the starter motor

Starter motor body / Lead wire / Mounting point grounding
If you check all of these, your peace of mind will increase significantly.

It won’t have a dramatic effect, but lightly polishing the mounting surface will increase your peace of mind.
Ultimately, it’s through these small accumulations that the condition improves.

Repro Harness vs. Original Used Harness Comparison

After installing the harness, you don’t want to think “Huh? What’s this?”
Comparing them upfront should reduce the chance of problems occurring.

I don’t like the fact that there are connectors whose purpose I don’t know.
You often have leftover connectors, right?

What is this anyway?You’d want to know.
If there are extras, marking them as “spare” or something would make it easier for anyone to understand in the future.

Repro Harness Common Quirks: Slightly Different Colors

It’s surprisingly common to not be able to source the same wire color.
That’s why comparing new and old and checking against the service manual wiring diagram is really important.

Electrical systems are something you want to be perfect.
It’s problematic if the engine stops midway, and it’s also problematic if it runs rough.
Is itelectrical? Carburetor? Engine?
If you can be confident that the electrical system is definitely okay, troubleshooting becomes much faster.

Keeping things as simple as possible and in a configuration that’s less prone to problems will definitely increase your peace of mind.

Reducing careless mistakes through visual checks

Basically,images are processed and understood faster than text,I think.
If instruction manuals were structured this way,worker mistakes would decrease and work would proceed more smoothly,right?

I have a D3 but not a D1.
But they’re almost the same on the Z… Impressive.

So I’m sending the gauges out for repair.
