We had pill bugs occasionally at the Meguro store too, so I didn’t pay much attention to them. But strangely, I see them every day now? When I searched to figure out where they were coming from, it seems they’re entering through small gaps in the entrance door.
Since it would be troublesome if they multiplied inside the store, prevention from the start is key! It has no odor and provides a very smart, long-term guard for you. If you’re having trouble with pill bugs or nuisance pests, please give this a try.
I’m starting to feel like there are probably a lot of people in the world who are really struggling with this.
If you use a sprayer, you can apply a large amount of pesticide. But then it becomes tedious, doesn’t it?
When things are large, taking them out is a hassle, and putting them away is a hassle too. Basically, you end up not doing it as often.
So I came up with the idea of a spray gun that works with Makita batteries. This has a capacity of 1.2 L and is incredibly convenient. Of course, since it’s a spray gun, you can adjust the spray intensity so it’s really great.
The only thing is that the total weight of the main unit + battery + liquid adds up, so a full 1.2 L does get somewhat heavy. To be extreme, you can use just 600 ml, so start with less at first.
Since I treat a wide area, I usually do two full tanks for treatment.
This is the type you dilute 20 times before use. It’s good to have a measuring beaker-like container.
I’ve used glass ones multiple times without washing them, but if you don’t want to wash, disposable ones might be better.
By the way, this insecticide has almost no immediate effect. In other words, if you spray it on insects right now, they won’t die immediately. You’ll probably be confused when you use it for the first time. But the day after spraying, it’s almost certainly a hellish scene.
Since it’s quite slow-acting, don’t rush and wait until the next day.
Even things you didn’t expect get exterminated.
The morning after spraying, I did a patrol around my home (log house). And what do you know! A centipede nearly 150mm long had passed away. And its offspring had also passed away.
Oh, so there were centipedes here… I found out for the first time.
Of course, pill bugs were curled up in piles, having passed away. It’s just an image, but when you spray this, it creates a barrier-like effect that keeps nuisance pests from entering. That’s the image I have. And any nuisance pests that do enter that area end up dying there.
But there are 2 important cautions!
First, “it’s almost completely ineffective against ants.” Strangely, ants seem completely unaffected. If you want to exterminate ants, “poison bait” is incredibly effective.
Basically, you can’t do anything unless you exterminate the queen ant. This is a bit of a tangent, but along the drainage ditch, “Pharaoh ants” (tiny ants just a few millimeters) had proliferated in massive numbers.
took about 2 weeks, but thanks to Ant Gel, we achieved complete human victory. They have no natural enemies and there’s plenty of environment for them to multiply, so they just kept increasing. This is super easy, so I recommend it if you’re having ant problems. The next day they’re trembling in small movements and you can exterminate the worker ants too.
Next, “clean up the dead bodies right away.” If you don’t dispose of them quickly, ants will swarm from somewhere. Pill bugs will also swarm on them and die right there, which becomes a big problem. Do cleaning together with spraying the next day.
The trick is to spray along the walls – that’s best.
By their nature, they seem to waddle along the walls. Before spraying, they used to climb this slope regularly.
About a month has passed now, and since spraying, there’s been no sign of them climbing at all. We’ve also almost completely cleared out the pill bugs. *They still show up very occasionally. Honestly, the performance is extraordinary. But since this contains 900ml, it takes a while to use it all up.

I basically spray once a month on days when the weather is clear. By spraying consistently, you can definitely maintain the barrier.
Shut them out completely before they multiply! I think that’s what matters. By the way, though it’s not really related, at first I was torn between “Shut Out SE.” But with Shut Out SE being powder-based, I was concerned about the poor appearance. With powder, the preparation and application process is tedious, and the application tools are cumbersome too.
Also, just a bit of a tangent, but I’ve also tested Shut Out SE. On the soil area where the exterior landscaping isn’t finished yet, I set up a board to place tools like a grass cutter. The area under artificial objects becomes a breeding ground for insects. Especially for ants, it’s the perfect environment.
I spread all the Shut Out SE before placing the board. Thanks to that effect, the nuisance pests in the surrounding area are almost completely shut out. Honestly, I think it just comes down to knowing or not knowing – it makes a huge difference in comfort. If you’re having trouble this summer, I think it’s worth trying once.
