The other day, while I happened to be browsing Amazon, I found that long-awaited cable band – and it’s made of silicone! Lately, Honda genuine rubber bands have been hard to get, so I’m completely ready to switch over.
I’m not sure how durable it is, but at 90 yen per piece! That’s totally fine.
When I tried to buy a bunch at once, it was “1 per account.” Since this item has really high expectations, check it out for reference.
Being able to fix the base dramatically reduces frustration (*´ω｀*)
The annoying thing about the old rubber bands was “the base couldn’t be fixed” and when using multiple different sizes, it gets a bit confusing and frustrating.
This silicone band cleared all those issues at once. As you can see in the image, with the base fixed in place, work efficiency skyrockets .
This is exactly the kind of item I wanted! It’s like a Kobayashi-style item , I think.
It doesn’t look sketchy at all – it’s nicely packaged, which gave me some peace of mind. The material quality is also excellent! I felt it had a refined finish with no sense of incongruity.
Here’s the length! Seeing numbers like that doesn’t really give you a sense of it, does it? Roughly speaking, I think the limit is wrapping around a 35mm fork.
There are 4 holes, all of which are elongated slots, so the recovery range is quite high. And thanks to the elongated slots, attachment and detachment are very easy.
The usage is extremely simple! This is it! This is it!
For example, like this – you first fix the base to the choke wire . Then you wrap the wiring around in a fixed manner .
Even when you remove it, the band stays on the choke wire side, so work is incredibly easy.
Of course, it’s designed to be cut and used, and cut grooves are carved as shown in the image .
I own that famous product – the R-cut nipper – so I can cut it pretty cleanly. This nipper is crazy expensive, but if you work with it, I think it’s worth having.
One piece covers all sizes! Base remaining, one piece at 90 yen – the best!
You can bundle it this neatly with no waste.
Just by cutting it, the appearance is already the same as the regular rubber band. I felt it was a wonderful item that combines price, performance, and design all together.
As for durability, I still can’t say for sure, but since it’s silicone, it should be pretty strong. Well, at 90 yen per piece, even if it fails, it’s no big deal. For some reason I don’t quite understand, “1 per account” is the limit, so if you’re interested, grab one! *You might be able to buy another one the next day.
In my case, I operate all my bikes with just one Quad Lock marine-grade QI charging mount assembly, so I need to be able to remove it quickly.
I used to use regular rubber bands, but having to put it somewhere or stick it in my pocket is just a hassle.
