Ideally I’d like to use the original carburetor + air cleaner box
Worst case, a CR Special would be fine, but I’m hoping to ride it with the original if possible. It seems like it’s been partially disassembled, but I’ll check it out anyway.
I remove the return spring, take out the link fixing bolts, and check that each one moves individually. #2 is really acting strange…. First, the throttle valve fixing bolt is already stripped….
It’s completely stiff and not moving well. When this happens, I think to swap it with another one, but it just gets worse…. Swapping #1 and #2 is still better, so I’ll adjust it within reasonable limits.
There’s a small amount of rust in the float chamber, so I’ll check it
It was in better condition than I imagined, so I was a bit surprised…. Given the shape, rust removal coating would be quite difficult for this tank, so that’s good.
An endoscope camera is really convenient, so having one comes in handy. For example, with a Bimota DB1, when I took it to the land transport office for inspection when presenting the engine model number and such.
For now, I’ll temporarily reuse it and assemble it
It looks like reproduction carburetor overhaul parts have been installed completely. From what I can see, it’s somewhat suspicious, but if I’m going to use an original carburetor I might need to prepare another set.
If that results in complete performance, that would be good, but “as a result, it ends up becoming a CR Special” considering that possibility, I don’t want to waste time and money. This balance is always difficult.
I’ll just order the necessary bolts and reuse the rest to assemble it. Then I’ll check the actual oil level and if everything looks good, I’ll install it once and see how it goes.
I’m scared so I haven’t checked the CR Special delivery date (*´ω`*)
