I actually bought this air pump back in November last year.
I was too lazy to write about it on the blog. . . . .

I’m thinking I should put more effort into blogging this year.
That’s what I was thinking today.
So here’s a “raw impression review.”

I introduced the Makita air pump MP181DZ before. Performance-wise, it’s flawless.
But if you’re thinking of carrying it along just in case, it’s a bit bulky.
And for people living in apartments who find it a hassle to store the air pump in their room, this might be perfect.

The tip attachment I introduced back when I covered the Makita
can be used as-is, and if you do that, it becomes a godly setup, so please definitely buy it.

When I bought it in November, it was 10,980 yen.

Bottom line first: it’s compact and really convenient. Worth keeping in your car.

By swapping the tip attachment, workability improves dramatically.
Filling from zero takes a bit of time, but for a motorcycle you won’t really mind.

With the included clamp-type connector,
it always pops out with a “pssh” when you remove it, which feels weird.
You’d really prefer to hold it by hand while pumping air in.

The tip attachment from the earlier Makita air pump can be used.

The fact that this tip works as-is is really appreciated.
In the “air pump industry,” it must be a standard thread size.

Handy size and simple operation

You can program various settings and use it that way,
but since the air gauge is pretty rough to begin with, it might not make much sense.

In my case, I just pump in a bit extra and then adjust.

Lots of accessories included! You can handle most things

I use the one with the gold chuck on the hose with an attachment.
Or you can also use the black lever chuck below it for cars and bikes.
*But since it’s a lock-type, it takes a bit of getting used to.

The compressor vibrates and makes the unit move,
so rubber pads are included.
Even after sticking them on, it still moves, so they don’t really help much.

Attaching the main unit is just screwing in a free fitting

You don’t need to tighten it that hard.
As long as air goes in, that’s all that matters—please don’t use excessive force.

By the way, you can pump up to a maximum of 990 KPA.
Though I doubt you’d ever need to. . . . .

It’s kind of nice that it quietly won design awards like this.

Well, there are lots of other things too, so I’ll introduce interesting stuff as the timing works out.
By the way, I think all these products will keep getting more expensive going forward.

Make sure you identify “things worth buying”
and grab them!
Don’t buy wasteful stuff! That’s all there is to it.
Things I bought a while back
have recently become 1.5 to 2 times more expensive or more, and I think “Ah, I’m so glad I bought it back then.”

The price increases ahead will happen at a speed we’ve never experienced before.
As a first wave,
starting in April of the new fiscal year, prices will likely jump dramatically. That’s what I think.
The same goes for motorcycle parts too.
Each manufacturer is quietly announcing this, so you should check it out.

So if you’ve been looking for an air pump, this is really good, so give it some thought.
