December has finally reached the 20th.
The work seems to be progressing, or maybe not…
Various parts not arriving is a significant issue.
In times like this, we gradually progress with whatever work we can do.
Going to overhaul the Mikuni HSR42

Honestly, I don’t think an overhaul is necessary.
But they asked me to do it just in case.

This Mikuni HSR has a structure where the seal fits into the throttle valve.
It’s a simple design, but it’s a wonderful carburetor that doesn’t stick.
I quite like the rugged appearance of this carburetor.
If a slightly smaller diameter existed, it might be interesting to modify it into a quad setup.
Always go with genuine Mikuni! Kit KHS-016 is the standard

The genuine Mikuni kit KHS-016 is available, so this is the standard choice.
It includes gaskets/seals and even the float valve.
With just this, ordering becomes easy!

First, I’ll start by inspecting everything.
The throttle valve seal looks similar…

Since there’s no semicircular groove cut on the outer edge, it might be an ancestor design.
Still, it’s a very simple concept that prevents sticking.
It would have been interesting if this could be adapted to TM or RS models.

Quickly check the passages, replace the seals, and we’re done.
We’ll use different diameter fuel hoses

My favorite fuel petcock design “Pingel Guzzler”
This old design is really cool.
I regret now that I didn’t remove just this one.
HARLEY DAVIDSON SCREAMING EAGLE K&N Air Filter C102A8

Actually, I replaced this with a new one last time.
Since this is now discontinued, I can’t get another one, so I just have to wash it and reuse it.
This time I washed it and put it back as is.
Spark plugs are terminal-integrated “DCPR7E”

I mistakenly ordered 4 plugs thinking it was twin plugs…
This Sportster has a Buell head and only needs 2.
Engine oil and primary oil change and we’re done

I accidentally forgot to order the primary oil.
I’ll fill it on Sunday and get the inspection done next week.
