Intensely too powerful? The twin 1000cc era. VTR1000SP-2 Deco-mainte front maintenance (fork OH) and more

The coolant was splashing a bit, so we did a test ride with a temporary assembly during maintenance.

Without the fairing it doesn’t cool down at all… or so it seemed. It’s quite an innovative radiator layout.
We’ll do a Deco-mainte.

Let’s check the axle shaft. No issues found.
Or rather… there are fewer times when there are problems (‘ω’)ノ

The wheel runout was also fine.

We also adjusted the wheel bearings.

Lately we’ve been replacing hub dampers pretty often because we’re being cautious.

You never know when rubber parts will give out… right?

We cleaned up the calipers too. At first I thought, hmm, this might be bad, but it’s working great now so we’ll keep using it for now.
We also replaced the split bolts.

We degreased the brake disc and cleaned out the holes.
With this type of brake hose, it’s better to check it occasionally when the caliper is removed.

We’ve had cases where it came loose before… so be careful.

No leaks… rest assured.

Since they’re already four years old, there’s tread, but please balance them well.

Front 3.5-17, rear 6.0-17.
Does the rear really need to be 190? I think a 180 would let it lean even more.

The disc was almost full.

We cleaned up the fender underside and inside the swingarm.

Overall it’s a clean unit so we’re good.

We lubricated the levers, throttle, and pedal (from the outside since they have sealed bearings).

According to the manual… there’s no drain plug… right?
The cover is magnesium with HRC written on it, which looks cool.

We replaced the radiator cap.

The request is to clean up the ETC antenna and lamp.
Since we’re lazy, the easier we can make it, the cheaper it is.

Time and effort = higher labor costs.
Balancing parts price, finish quality, and labor is always the tricky part.

So we’ve got it on here for now.

We were supposed to finish today but… the air cleaner needs two of them…
Some other work is on hold for now.
