Separate the colors as much as possible and make comparisons easy. I think it’s nothing more and nothing less than that.

Headlight ON/OFF (won’t pass inspection though) and the hazard moves to the left.
We modified it by replacing and extending.
Turning off the headlight all the way to the tail would be a hassle, so we made it possible to turn the headlight ON/OFF.
We also set it up so it can easily be made constant by opening and closing the headlight relay.
Yeah, don’t stick it on anymore… seriously.
