I haven’t ridden it hard yet, but the carb needs some adjustment.
Even if you just “slap it on” and ride, it’ll work, but the 1200 ST-1 cam is easier.
Because you get performance just by installing it—it’s really wonderful.
This is for the GSX-R1100.
The ST-2 is actually incredibly satisfying. It’s one of those things that people who know, know?
But you have to remove the head. And the carb needs adjustment.
You don’t get performance just by “slapping it on.”
There are tuning parts like that.
I always keep one set in stock with the elongated holes.
The machining is easy, but the assembly is a pain…..
The inside of the head is so clean….. it’s wonderful.
A dirty engine interior won’t come clean no matter how many oil changes you do.
You need to disassemble it and scrub with Scotch or use chemical power.
I’ll replace the cam at roughly the right position for now, and then check the valve timing.
With oil cooling, even if the cam chain drops, the crankshaft gear won’t shift, so don’t worry.
I’m using the GSX-R1100 ST-1 cam.
The 1200 ST-1 is around the GSX-R1100 standard (I think).
The ST-1 is finally the true stock for oil cooling.
I think the real ST-1 might be the GSX-R1100’s ST-1.
Since it’s my own bike, I want to test it.
By the way, the stock valve springs are shared between 1100 and 1200.
Checking the valve timing requires a tedious set of tools.
So I’ve made a “just install it” type item, which makes it quick.
Using a flexible arm instead of wire to mark the position is incredibly convenient.
I’ve also made an offset adapter on the outside of the timing wheel to use.
By offsetting it, you don’t need to touch the pickup base = increased efficiency.
When you can do it without removing unnecessary parts, it’s much faster.
A little tip.
Since you crank it multiple times, oil comes up from the rear oil passage.
If you stick a hose in here, it automatically returns to the head.
It saves you the trouble of cleaning up spilled oil (*´ω｀*)
And that’s how the cam replacement is complete.
