Inazuma 1200 Oil-Cooled Katana Build | GSX400S vs 1100S Fairing Comparison. Why is the 400S the best choice?

I’m not really a hardcore custom enthusiast, so I prefer to move forward with minimal hassle.
As it happens, we have an Inazuma 1200 oil-cooled Katana in the shop right now, so this is perfect timing for a parts comparison.

Inazuma 1200 riders across the country might be quietly curious about this…

Lined up to match the floor grooves

Left GSX400S
Center GSX1200S
Right GSX1100S

The GSX1100S seat is just a bit longer.
If we use it as-is, it’ll become a “long tail,” so I need to think this through.

GSX400S/GSX1100S – Different wall heights at the tip

The GSX400S seat wall height is clearly much lower…
I’m getting a bad feeling about this…

Cutting the GSX1100S seat will be a hassle later

When you cut the rear of the seat, the tail cowl moves forward.
Then the tail cowl mounting base interferes, requiring a lot of work on the underside of the seat.
I’d rather avoid that if possible.

But the GSX400S seat is so thin and flat that there’s zero interference (*´ω｀*)
That was a discovery!
So the GSX400S seat + GSX1100S tail cowl combination works well.

Mounted the seat on the GSX1200S

Surprisingly, it fits quite nicely…
I’m a bit shocked. This unexpected discovery has me excited.

There are slight gaps, to be honest.
Since the seat base is plastic, I could bend it with a heat gun if needed.
That’s about the level of adjustment required.

If I pull the cowl out a bit…
The Inazuma 1200’s concern about bulging disappears.
The GSX400S seat is getting scarce… I might not use the GSX1200S as-is.

This kind of thinking shows I’m back to normal daily life.
The Inazuma 1200 hasn’t arrived yet, so I’m daydreaming sometimes…
