When you think about the time and cost of replacing it,
buying a new seat assembly would have been faster,
but the Zephyr 400 (550) and Zephyr X seats aren’t compatible (according to online info).
Not so simple… that’s the Zephyr situation.
I really wanted that cover though…
So I gave it a try (*´ω｀*)
The parts finally arrived.

The name sounds really very GOOD.
Finding this cover took so much time…
Since I’m detail-oriented, I looked up all the part numbers
and then searched by image before ordering. (Gives me peace of mind)

I wouldn’t have bought it if I didn’t know about it…
But it showed up in Amazon recommendations, so I thought it might be useful?
That’s how we end up buying things (*´ω｀*)
I had to remove a lot of staples, so it was trial and error…
First I’d lift them up and pull them out with pliers.
This turned out to be the fastest method for me.
The staples are rusty, so watch out for tetanus.
I got this seat from my favorite Up Garage.
It’s from a Zephyr 400, and unusually it came with hardware.
When I peeled it off, the waterproof backing had become brittle and was done for.
Looking at it this way, I realized that seats aren’t eternal either…
I thought to myself ( ；∀；)
Honestly, I really hate the Zephyr’s riding position.
The handlebars and seat are low,
and the footpegs are oddly high and far back—it’s awkward.
I wanted to use firmer foam and change the front, but
if I did too much, it wouldn’t work out, so I’m just replacing the cover.
After trying the seat cover replacement, I realized…
It would have been better to take it to a seat shop.
It’s more troublesome than I expected. Plus, I used a different cover, so…
Get short 6mm staples separately. Longer ones won’t work well. MAX Staples 1006J
After trial and error, I finally got it done on the second attempt.
The wrinkles and marks on the sides were already there…typical Kawasaki.
The tacker went bang bang bang!
The air power is incredible…kind of like a weapon.
The back seems to be about a size larger?
No matter how much I pulled, the leather had excess, so I had to fold it to cover.
It turned out pretty sharp (*´ω｀*)

Midway through, I thought, you know what,
maybe I should just give up…
But I pushed through.
The seat cover can be used, but…the back is a bit large.
A seat shop might say, “That’s easy!”
Maybe they would.
It’s a subtly designed cover, isn’t it?
The manufacturer really did a good job! You can see the new mindset at work.

↑Honestly, a regular screwdriver works fine too.
Better than nothing? Slightly easier to insert.
↑For seat replacement, use short 6mm staples. Longer ones won’t work well.
Check the length of the original ones. That’s the way to go.
