Well, hello everyone! Decoboco Meguro is currently relocating and not open for business.
On May 20th today, we completed the final outsourced move-out. The shop interior is now completely empty except for a desk.
We’ll be in Tokyo for just about one more week. May is flying by so quickly. When I think that a move this big won’t happen again in my life, it makes things feel easier.
Now, I’ve been thinking about the entrance fence for a while. If we do proper exterior work, it costs an enormous amount of money. And with the property layout considerations, “I’m in a situation where I can’t decide” . In that situation, “even if it’s temporary, I can recover from it,” so I decided to use a home center American fence.
The products are similar across retailers, but there are slight price differences. As you buy more units, the price gap tends to grow.
I could only judge texture from images, so I couldn’t really tell if there’s a difference.
Kanto’s Second-Largest! The Massive “Cainz Mobara”
I’ve been there once before. It’s so massive you could get lost. The Cainz Mobara store’s floor area is 13,394 square meters. This location is the second-largest store in the Kanto region, after the Tsurugashima location.
Since coming to Chiba, “I love parking lots where you can pull straight in head-first.” Driving in an area with few traffic lights and no congestion is really convenient.
First Time? Trying Drive Pickup
I thought the system was very confusing. First, the dedicated drive pickup parking area isn’t marked anywhere.
I drove around the parking lot for a while before finally finding it. Despite being called “dedicated,” “it’s just a sign sitting there.” I think each store should indicate where it’s located.
Next, you use the app to “select which parking space you’re in,” and then staff brings your items on a cart—supposedly a great system. But… After waiting 10 minutes, nothing showed up. I ended up calling to have them bring it, which is a pretty weird system. It’s a bit disappointing, honestly.
Total: ¥27,000! That’s got some punch to it.
Everyone loves black! Black = chic, or rather, it’s the safe choice. Silver shows rust and dirt more easily, so I went with the safe option.
The finish turned out to be more refined than I expected. It’s surprisingly lightweight, which makes it easy to use.
For serious projects, you’d want to go with a PC fence (Asahi Fence).
I wanted to keep it minimal, so I bought just two support legs for now.
The finish on these is decent too—no disappointment.
Here’s what I purchased this time.
I bought this configuration, but when you connect the 150 cm sections, they get heavy and long to move around. I realized that. So I added two more support legs and needed two more connectors.
This flexibility to adjust is nice. Even if you stop using it, you can repurpose it for other things, which makes it a pretty interesting item. Still, I’m really feeling the price increases lately.

Right now it’s connected as two sections, but I plan to separate them into individual units. This American fence has a nice texture and looks cool.
You can use it indoors too, and “you can orient it either vertically or horizontally.”
It fit the width perfectly, which was nice. By the way, I forgot to bring my tools today, so I just hand-tightened it temporarily.
I’ve been thinking about this “home center American fence” since early this month… As usual, I take a long time deciding… Now that I’ve found it’s quite useful, I think I need to buy more units. If I go overboard, the cost becomes astronomical, so I want to keep it reasonable and minimal. For now, “it looks cool!” The pipe diameter is basically 31.8 mm (32φ), so compatibility is quite high. Depending on how you think about it, there are lots of creative possibilities, so I’d like to share them as time allows.
Everywhere I go looks pretty much the same these days. I want to live a slow, gradual life, so thanks for your patience.
