Still Popular? Is the GS1200SS a Neoclassic? NGC Muffler Repaint & FCR Carburetor Overhaul – Work and Repair Consultation Within Budget “¥100,000~”

October has arrived before we knew it.
Life is accelerating in all directions, and I find myself in October without really understanding what’s happening.

The muffler paint should be finishing up soon, so I’m going to overhaul the FCR.

The condition isn’t too bad, so seals are the main focus

With this black? gray? body, it’s hard to tell how tired it looks, which is nice.
If it were silver, it would probably look pretty rough.

Be careful when removing the FCR float valve seat

The ribs at the tip are quite thin, so it’s good to make a snug-fitting rod by shaving it down.
If you deform it, that’s game over.

The key to flat valve carbs is the floating valve seal

It wasn’t deformed, but the lip definitely looked worn out.
The valve still has a gentle contact, so I decided to reuse it.

To be precise, there are many other seals involved, but once you start, there’s no end to it with high-performance carbs.
Since it’s running well as is, I’ll do a gentle overhaul.

I love Keihin carbs for their consistent quality

Keihin carburetors are really well made.
They don’t require much technique, and there are relatively few things to check.
I think a lot of people have felt that even new TMR carbs are somewhat untrustworthy…

Maybe brands that Honda uses as OEM are just more reliable.
That said, I’m not dissing Mikuni—personally, I actually prefer Mikuni.

I wonder what adhesive Keihin and Mikuni use and how they apply it.
I don’t think the manufacturers use G103…

I’m guessing it’s probably a pretty thin, efficient-to-apply adhesive.
If anyone knows, please tell me.

And so it continues.
