I dropped it straight down from the rear brake master with a 90-degree banjo. I try to keep the hose as straight as possible, “and let the fittings do the bending.” That’s the concept I’m using for the layout.
On the caliper side, I considered various options, but straight turned out to be the simplest (*´ω｀*)
If you keep the hose from twisting, it won’t put stress on the fittings. For the rear, please select the hose accounting for chain adjustment and vertical stroke.
Next up is wiring management. Bikes really have very little space.
Since this is an older bike, there’s a bit of room. Still, fitting things in is quite challenging.
I want to avoid looking at the wiring later and thinking “ugh.” When you think about not obstructing maintenance access, the worries never end.
First time using it! Self-fusing silicone tape is heat-resistant.
Silicone-based in black, and with easy availability and acceptable pricing, I went with TESA. But it’s 25mm wide. *I stretch it when using it, but… If anyone knows of a 10-15mm wide silicone-based black tape, please let me know.
It’s really great. It’s excellent for finishing the ends of braided tubing added later. *When heat shrinking isn’t possible.
It takes a bit of technique, but it’s becoming a standard item.
And then I happened to run out of Wellnut C-550 stock, so I tried to order more… but it was out of stock everywhere! Plus the price is approaching 200 yen per piece, and I really think “was it always this expensive?”
The other day, Maron said “Right now is always the cheapest!” There are more things going up in price than down, right? And I thought wow, that makes sense… So you should buy it when you think of it! That’s the lesson, folks.
I hate residual adhesive.
When you remove something, removing adhesive residue is probably something nobody enjoys. It depends on what you use, but “easily leaving adhesive residue like double-sided tape or tape” should be avoided as much as possible.
Because it’s easy now, but someone will have a hard time later. So… a subtle technique that makes future work easier? I apply black masking tape over a wide area and then attach velcro or double-sided tape on top of that. Of course, make sure to degrease properly.
When you remove it, there’s almost no adhesive residue left. Small things like this make future work so much easier!
