When something meant for safety
becomes “unsafe”
pay close attention (´ー｀)
The other day, I
replaced the muffler.
As you get older
you realize “the stock muffler is really something”
. . .
After all
it’s easy to ride, quiet, and has no dead spots
if it were light, that would be perfect!
But
durability = longevity
it’s wonderful.
Anyway, setting that aside.
After replacing the muffler the other day
occasionally “fuu~” the
engine just stops.
This never happened before. .
And it only
happens when engaging the clutch from 1st gear
sometimes the symptom appears, sometimes it doesn’t
it’s unsettling, you know?
As a test
even when I rev it really high and engage the clutch
“fuu~” Psst!!
I thought it was misfiring
I removed the sidestand S/W.
When sidestand is retracted
→ Pin extends = ON
“Extension direction = ON”
*This is normal for Zephyr
Sometimes the action is sluggish and doesn’t return fully
The pin doesn’t return completely
It was a soft? OFF
“I wish it was the other way”
If it were ON in the direction you push when retracting the stand
even with malfunction it would be fine
Suzuki uses “push direction = ON”
But why the engine stops when putting it in 1st gear is still a mystery?
Was it a soft/intermittent
connection issue?
You should check it occasionally
If the E/G would just stop
that would be fine, but something like this
is scary when turning right.
Always ON for life!
Simpler design is better
The sidestand safety feature
just needs careful attention at your own responsibility
When it gets a bit old, things like this happen and it’s annoying
It’s like THE classic bike. . .
