It’s just the right temperature for riding a bike.
Before you know it, the end of the year is right around the corner.
Let’s finish up without leaving any tasks undone.

I’ll continue with the remaining oil-cooled maintenance work.
First, valve adjustment.
The ignition system has already been upgraded to Watanabe.
At that time, to improve serviceability,
I remade the bracket.
This is where you can save a little effort.

With a plastic hammer, try not to strike the covers.
Just because it’s a plastic hammer, is it safe?
That was back when parts were healthy and easy to obtain.
Try not to damage objects as much as possible.
If you tap the cam plug with a “thunk!”
the head cover lifts up easily.

The intake side #2 and #4 were pretty seized up.
The others were clean.

Motion Pro Tappet Adjuster
M8 – 3mm Square
Not a current model.
A 3mm square passes through the M8 wrench.
It stands on its own like this,
so it’s very easy to work with.
With a little height like this, the oil-cooled
is easier to work on.
Daytona has something similar,
but I haven’t used it, so I can’t say.
I use this set.♪

Don’t apply liquid gasket sealant to the head cover gasket.
Honestly, I don’t think it’s effective.
And
it doesn’t help secure the head cover either.
It’s just a pain to remove later.
Your cooperation is appreciated.

It’s pretty burnt up.
I’ll reuse it.

1200 Series Breather Gasket
11177-17E00
Basically usable.
Since it’s metal, seepage is reduced.

I replaced the starter motor O-ring.

The starter motor grounds directly.
Polishing it reduces potential issues.
It’s a small thing, but it’s the thought that counts.
Be careful when painting the engine.
*The current is so high it’ll spin, but…

I replaced the generator damper.

The manual says to wedge it with a wooden block!
I don’t know how the rest of the world does it.
I do it like this:
Locking pliers secured with a chain.
The gears are treated with super-hard hardening,
so this level is fine.
This tool is only used at this time.

Oil is Shell Advance 15W-50.

Check if the oil filter fits.
It’s better to check before removing the old one.

I synchronized the carbs and adjusted the ignition timing slightly.
