But the air conditioner works so well that we keep it running at around 25-27 degrees. When I looked outside, “the area around the outdoor unit was soaking wet.” I placed a plastic bottle as a test and it’s outputting around 500ml/h…
When concrete stays chronically wet, nothing good comes of it… So I implemented a solution that wouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

What sparked the experiment: Days of intense heat and the thick, clinging humidity unique to the Boso area. I noticed water constantly flowing “drip drip…” from the drain hose.
Testing method: I attached an empty 500ml plastic bottle to the end of the drain hose and left it.

Hose + plastic bottle layout
This is my favorite Kakuichi hose. With an outer diameter of 20mm and inner diameter of 15mm, it’s a size that residential homes don’t typically use these days?
Currently 5m rolls aren’t available so I bought 10m (；∀；)

I insert it into the plastic bottle and secure it with self-fusing tape so it doesn’t leak. This prevents any leakage at the insertion point.
Since the hose has some memory, angling it slightly upward helps with drainage.
Wedge it firmly into the gap.
Just replace the plastic bottle with a new one each season. If you use it continuously and simply, it might actually be a pretty clever solution?

It’s so hot outside that we lower the roller curtains in summer. The weather is becoming increasingly abnormal year after year.

For our second entry today, we step outside the wrenching bay to look at our factory environment. Summer in Chiba (Mutsuzawa) brings extreme, relentless humidity. Since moisture is the ultimate enemy that triggers rust on steel and vintage alloy parts, we run our high-capacity commercial AC non-stop. Out of curiosity, I placed an empty 2L plastic bottle under the external condensation drain hose. To my absolute amazement, the bottle was filled to the brim in less than two hours! Verdict: The AC is actively squeezing over 10 to 15 liters of water out of our shop’s air every single day. Maintaining a dry, 50% humidity environment is crucial. It keeps our customer machines pristine, ensures proper curing of chemical sealants, and keeps the mechanic’s mind perfectly focused. Protect your vintage rides from humid indoor air this summer!
