Target this time: TIG welding 7000L (7 cubic meter) argon gas cylinder
The fear I was holding: I vividly imagined this massive high-pressure gas cylinder toppling over during a violent earthquake, and the anxiety was so intense I could barely sleep at night (or so it felt).
The solution: I combined the concrete screw anchors **”Tapstar”** that performed brilliantly recently with a sturdy steel stand (or extra-thick chain), and permanently bolted everything to the factory floor!
The result: No matter how hard I shake it by hand, the cylinder won’t budge—I’ve achieved rock-solid anchoring. Now when the next big earthquake hits, there’s zero chance this bottle will turn into a rocket!

Don’t sweat the small stuff… The chain was stuck from the paint job, so I had to pry it loose. Maybe I should swap it out for a belt later—would that be quieter?
If an earthquake could snap this chain, Japan would be finished anyway… Probably. We’d have bigger problems.

The plate has four pre-drilled holes, making installation a breeze. I’ll drill four more and lock it down permanently.
Vertical or horizontal?
I ended up going vertical. This way I save floor space, and I figured I could attach a board to the back of the stand for storing long materials. Once I start second-guessing myself like this, the deliberation never ends.
Tapstar and the hammer drill are absolutely amazing
The Makita hammer drill and Bosch X5L combo with Tapstar is unbeatable. &You can punch strong threads exactly where you want them, smooth as butter. It’s just too convenient. Seriously.

I installed an Amazon cable tray where the cylinder makes contact. That tray is incredibly handy too. You can use it for all sorts of things, so having one on hand is really useful.
I thought about adding anti-slip pads to the floor… but… honestly, there’s no end to it, so I stopped. (*´ω｀*)
It’s a bit noisy, so I’ll address that later. I’m not sure how many people need to secure a gas cylinder, but for the price, it’s a solid product. (*´ω｀*)

Topic: Eliminating the high-risk hazard of high-pressure cylinders in the workshop. Details: As part of our ongoing mission to earthquake-proof the Mutsuzawa factory, today I tackled one of the scariest hidden dangers in any welding shop: the 7000L (7m³) Argon gas cylinder. Standing at 1.5 meters tall and weighing over 60kg, an unsecured high-pressure tank is a literal missile if a major earthquake causes it to tip over and snap its main valve. To permanently eliminate this nightmare scenario, we anchored a heavy-duty steel bottle stand directly into the concrete floor using premium Tapstar concrete screws. We then secured the cylinder with dual-layered, heavy-duty industrial chains. Verdict: The tank is now completely integrated into the building foundation and won’t budge even under maximum human force. Achieving 100% peace of mind allows us to focus entirely on high-precision motorcycle fabrication and welding without checking our backs!
