We received a request for GS1200SS oil-cooled NGC full exhaust oil cooler hose fabrication, mini maintenance, and NewTec oil change.
This is an NGC full exhaust. The distinctive feature of this exhaust is its very thick exhaust pipes.
Setting up the oil lines turned out to be much more challenging than expected.
For the upper side, I can only think of a 180-degree option.
After that, I have no choice but to match the actual parts and select the fittings accordingly.
I also need to account for easy removal and installation. If I don’t set it up with enough slack to allow for easy assembly and disassembly, it’ll be a pain for anyone working on it in the future.
Basically, angle fittings exist so you don’t have to bend the hose in tight radii and put stress on it. It looks cleanest when the hose hangs down like a string dropped from above.
We can keep good distance from the exhaust pipe too, which is the safe approach. I want at least 10 millimeters of clearance.
If it burns through and leaks, it’s a nightmare scenario.
Ideally, I’d rather not wrap it with heat-resistant tape. Simple is best.
To belabor the point, this hose is also double-wrapped. Of course, the outer covering can be replaced as needed. A mesh hose without a cover is like hanging sandpaper on your bike. It damages everything around it and looks increasingly shabby over time.
The mesh hose we removed is black all over. If you like that look, so be it, but if you don’t care either way, I’d really appreciate it if you’d cover it.
