Clean look with Highsider mirrors! 701 SUPERMOTO inspection, engine oil, fluid replacement, Quadlock QI charging and more

Before we know it, we’re already at the end of March.
Soon it’ll feel like early summer outside? Let’s keep working efficiently.

Switching to the ultimate? QI charging marine Quadlock

This is the ultimate QI charging? Quadlock (marine version).
The best part is that you only need 12-24V input and ground to complete the installation.

I know it’s hard to convey, but I hope you get the idea.

The typical charging method is to install a USB port around the handlebars.
Then you connect your phone with a cable from there.

“USB port” and “USB cable” are required.
Commonly sold QI chargers also require a “USB port.”

But this marine Quadlock connection only needs “12-24V and ground” —the unit converts it to 5V internally.

This reduces the number of parts, and since it’s marine-grade, it should handle even pretty rough use.

The attachment and detachment are easy, so if you own multiple bikes, you can easily move it between them.

I’ve written about it in more detail before, so check it out.

This way the handlebar area becomes very clean and efficient.
But when you add up all the parts, it gets pretty pricey, so a lot of people hesitate.

Plus you need a phone case, so it ends up being quite a punch to the wallet.
But it’s very simple and solidly built, so I think you’ll get long-term use out of it.

For foreign bikes, basically all parts need to be brought in by the customer.

We’ll replace the oil filter assembly, air filter, and radiator cap.

Some mysterious creature had laid eggs in there.
They’re still hard, so maybe they haven’t hatched yet.

Engine oil replacement has a lot of parts to remove, so it’s a bit labor-intensive.
The coolant has also been replaced. *We forgot to take a photo because we had a customer.

We replaced all the brake fluid with Golden Cruiser DOT4.
Titanium nipples were also requested, but two of them have special dimensions, so we skipped them this time.

Highsider bar-end mirror Montana 2

They found some motard blog and wanted it to look like that.
So we picked a mirror that passes inspection and has decent quality.

Removing handlebar parts turned out to be surprisingly labor-intensive

Looking inside the left handlebar switch, I thought, “This is how it should be…”
It got me thinking.
I think we could get a similar structure by putting a spike into the switch side.
If we get a chance, I’ll test it out sometime.

At first I had no idea why they wanted to do this,
but once the installation was done, I kind of understand the appeal.

Of course, there are some drawbacks compared to the original mirror.

You can see surprisingly well, but it’s harder to check than the stock mirror.
The adjustment range is very limited, so it might be tough depending on your body type.
It’s held on the taper and pressed against the guard stay to keep it from wobbling.

After that, we just do the inspection and we’re done.
