The Nissin 2P rear caliper used on the ZZR1400 and others
The ZZR1400 version has aluminum pistons, and
the body is an anodized caliper, so it’s highly resistant to corrosion.
*I can suggest it, but I don’t do installation work… sorry about that.
This caliper, though in a different color, was used on the GSX-R1000 for a long time.
I like the looks of it,
and I favor it because the rear support is easy to adapt.
*Though I haven’t actually used it on anything yet…
I’m the type who wants the rear brake to work properly
When it comes to rear brakes, there are people who use them and people who don’t, and people who want them to work well and people who don’t. So I think it falls into the category of feel-tuning parts.
There’s definitely a trend out there that aftermarket brakes are the best, so I think it’s fun to make a subtle choice like this.
Brake maintenance parts and pad sourcing are easy to come by.
In terms of stopping power, it’s at the level adopted by stock motorcycles, so it’s solid.
You can go soft with the pad material or make it firm—either way works.
If you adapt the GSX-R1000 (220φ) support and weld a base block to the swingarm side, you get a rigid fixed mount with a clean look.
There’s also the point that it’s so subtle nobody notices…
I think using stock parts is a good move for enjoying that hidden upgrade—”Actually, it’s different!”
In this modern age where research is easy, it’s fun to scheme up all sorts of things.
*Though you do need to be able to do some fabrication…
