I thought it was fixed, but then it started acting up again.
For now, I’m going to put a lid on this smelly problem and move forward. (*^-^*)
The plug wire has aged as well, so I’m replacing it with a reliable NGK Power Plug Wire.
The V4K is short, so it’s ideal for #1 and #4.
The X4K is long, so it’s ideal for #2 and #3. This is probably the same for both Z and GS models.
What’s good about it is…
The cap and wire are basically one integrated structure.
No need to screw anything in going forward, which reduces unnecessary risk.
The fewer things you have to check, the less risk there should be… always.
I’d really appreciate it if we could stop using staples.
It’s a hassle to remove them cleanly every time, and there’s the risk of them getting mixed into something…
It’s gotten loose and there’s some discoloration from a minor leak. The connection to the coil is old-style, so I’m changing it to a terminal type.
After crimping, I shrink the excess parts with heat shrink tubing.
The terminal bending direction is limited, so I need to be careful about the direction when crimping.
I installed an improved version 3.
The standard included slip-on type sits on the coil-side taper, which makes me a bit uneasy.
Since I won’t be removing it often, I cut the rubber boot that goes over the coil straight and permanently bond it with heat shrink tubing. (It can be removed if you cut it.)
This way it shouldn’t come off no matter how hard you pull, so careless mistakes should be reduced.
I marked the wire side.
I used yellow to make it easy to see.
I’d prefer not to use the plug wire number.
When removing the head cover, carb, or plugs, you have to remove it anyway considering the possibility of it falling off. Whether you care about it or not is up to you…
Blind fastening with many points increases risk.
Oh! Clink clink ~♪… hole in one ~ can happen…
And if you use stainless steel with blind fastening and many points, you need to be careful.
It’s better to reduce those “oh no!” moments.
Clearly marking “leftover” makes things easier for next time.
The left grip was slipping, so I added my usual anti-slip material.
