Today I’m installing the Yoshimura ST-1 again.
I bought this “flat ratchet”
SK11 Gear Tech Double Flex Ratchet Wrench 8×10mm MFR0810N
I use this to secure where this coil is fastened.
Securing from below in a tight spot. An aluminum collar is sandwiched in there too, which is the worst.
Plus, it’s almost never been removed, so it’s one of those bolts that won’t turn by hand.
I went with SK11 because I wanted it as affordable as possible and as thin as possible.
It’s pretty much a specialty tool though…
When the head cover won’t come off? A little trick (*´ω｀*)
There’s definitely a culture of tapping with a plastic hammer.
Plastic hammers are okay? But they subtly cause damage you can’t see…
If you tap the four cam plug locations, the gasket escapes with enough force to usually lift the cover.
Right in the middle! A perfect strike! Please.
It’s become less common lately, but the Bandit 1200 has pretty much always been overheated
and the gasket becomes hard as a rock…
hard like plastic. It won’t come off at all… This is the method I discovered for those times.
The work is pretty much like this
I didn’t organize this for the photo “it’s usually just like this” is the case.
I quickly yank it apart “and organizing it later takes more effort” doesn’t it?
I wonder if there’s ever a case where you just throw it all in and have no problems…
For a week or several months, unless you’re really a serious storage maniac, it’s difficult.
Always open with scissors.
The reason is… “staples”
Recently it’s become heat-sealed so staples have decreased,
but if you open with scissors, you’ll have almost no vinyl pieces.
I think it’s a game of minimizing the “what if” of contamination in work parts.
The rocker arm and slider (front) are new too, so they look fresh~
The Yoshimura ST-1 might be in short supply again.
Last year it was out of stock around this time too, so it didn’t come in until late summer…
If you think you’re going to install it, get it early! The price won’t go down from here on.
