Rider’s Lunch! Taking the GPZ550 for a Spin to Isumi.
Topic: A quick Sunday ride and test run. Details: People often ask me, “Since you’re always fixing bikes, do you ever actually ride?” The answer is yes! Taking a quick break from kitten duty, I took my Kawasaki GPZ550 out for a short touring trip to neighboring Isumi City. This was also a perfect opportunity to test the recent Keihin CVK30 carburetor swap. The bike ran absolutely flawlessly—smooth, responsive, and a joy to ride on the open country roads. Verdict: I enjoyed a fantastic “rider’s lunch” at a local spot in Isumi. Riding is the best way to recharge my batteries and keep my mechanic senses sharp. Now, back to the garage and the kittens!

A quick haircut and then straight to lunch on Friday. I basically eat lunch out on Fridays, but I’ve been getting a lot of visits lately.
I have a feeling I might need to reconsider my lunch day schedule.
I’ve installed a CVK30 on the GPZ550 and have been testing it out. I think I’m starting to understand why this CVK30 is called a defective carburetor.
Straight along Route 128 by the coast
Since my haircut place is by the coast, I accessed it from the coastal Route 128. It’s best to avoid the coastal route as much as possible since it gets crowded.
Approaching from the inland side would be better since there are winding roads, so it should be somewhat more fun.
Thankfully“the parking lot is concrete” By the way,the concrete parking rate at restaurants is less than 20% *according to our researchso everyone, be careful about dining in Chiba.
The entrance looks quite nice and my mood is great.
Lunch set (fried fish and sushi) around 2,400 yen
I was very satisfied with the high-quality lunch I enjoyed. Until this month“Isumi Wild Pufferfish Course 9,800 yen” I’d like to try that sometime—I should have gone during the cold season (*´ω｀*)
This place definitely made my list for return visits.
The service is polite and the restaurant has just the right amount of customers, so you can eat at a leisurely pace. Having gotten used to this Chiba Soto-bo area, I’m increasingly uncomfortable dining at crowded, noisy places.
With a decent number of seats and space, it’s also great for touring.

After switching to a 36φ high-throttle, it really runs so much better. Negative-pressure carburetors are really great because they stay light even with a high-throttle.
