Engine Oil Change (Oil Used: Shell ADVANCE )
Benefits of Shell Advance:

The more rare your bike, the more you should stock up on throttle cables!
While “rare bike” might sound odd… For bikes where reproduction parts don’t exist, “you absolutely must buy spares.” OEM cables are simple—just swap them out.
If you go with an aftermarket throttle holder, complications multiply. Things to buy: Throttle holder Right switch Handle grips Things to worry about: Throttle grip diameter Right switch wiring *Some years have light ON/OFF that fails inspection Grip type Throttle cable length (vent fittings are rare, making layout difficult)
In the worst case, you end up spending more money and effort, the throttle response suffers, and you essentially create a one-off cable anyway. Many people don’t realize how easily things become unclear and non-standard. Stock (OEM) parts are really well-designed.
The trap of mismatched hoses and molded vent hoses
You won’t find the perfect mismatched or vent hose in the aftermarket. Even if you do, it must be this two-layer type. *Based on our experience Even this two-layer hose hardens after a few years, but it’s the longest-lasting fuel hose available.
If the OEM uses a mismatched hose, you’ll need to source it aftermarket or find a used one. Replace it at the same time you change the throttle cable. The peace of mind is completely different.
The Bandit 1200’s intake manifold has a subtly soft finish. Intake manifold and band deterioration can make it smell slightly like gasoline.
So when removing the carb, I use Norma 32-50 hose clamps. *Using hose clamps without slit holes is gentler on the rubber. *Like the shape shown in the image
When removing the carburetor, clean the linkage and fine details to prevent debris from entering.
Plugs and air filter are in GOOD condition
No issues, so we’ll reuse them as-is.
Brake fluid every two years. Super important
I wondered if we’d already changed it—it was so clean. But here’s the thing! The tank looks clean, but the real stress is inside the calipers. The fluid doesn’t circulate, so we freshen up the fluid in the harsh areas. That’s the idea.
Since it gets ridden a lot, it was surprisingly dirty. Switching to fresh oil makes everything smooth and perfect.

To finish it off, I changed the engine oil using Shell ADVANCE . Oil-cooled engines operate at extremely high temperatures, placing immense stress on the oil.
