I’d like to make just a little progress on the GSF1200.
The work of cutting and grinding the frame and such is surprisingly tedious. I do this kind of work, but basically I hate getting dirty myself.
I’m also not good with dusty work.
I basically use the 3M VERSAFLO, one of those full-coverage types.
To be honest, goggles alone won’t protect your face. It’s easy to forget, but your body really is your capital.
And don’t forget earplugs (earmuffs).
It’s rough when you can’t hear anything—just “huh? what?”—so be careful.
Also, be sure to watch your hands so you don’t cut them.
Let’s start by removing the rear fender.
The GSF1200 comes off so easily—it’s wonderful.
Pop! Off it came. I actually quite like the stock rear fender.
*My own GSF didn’t have one, though.
If I cut and grind everything, I’ll get sick of it, so I’m just going to work on a few spots—just enough to keep it from getting tedious.
When I cut, I basically use an air saw. Cutting plus grinding sends dust flying all over the shop and gets my whole body covered in powder, so I hate it.
Today I’m keeping it to just five spots.
*The air saw blades are also out of stock.
For now, just two spots halfway done. I’ll keep moving forward as time allows.
