Oil leaking from both front and rear suspension. The rear will get outsourced OH, and the front will receive front maintenance plus OH work.
It’s in pretty sharp condition and corrosion is progressing.
The ETC antenna and lamp look bad, so I’ll relocate them.
The underbracket is also quite corroded.
I thought warming it with a high-wattage soldering iron might help, but it was iffy.
The bearing condition wasn’t too bad.
If there are any burrs on the frame side, I’ll clean them up before replacing the race. Full visual inspection all around.
With this setup
I’ll get a feel for how well the seal is working. Knowing this will make things easier down the road.
Stiff—I thought maybe it was over-tightened, but it turned out the seal was gripping really hard.
If the seal contact and bearing contact aren’t right, play will develop. It’s good to keep this in mind too.
