The inner tube replating actually came back on 11/9 and the fork assembly was completed.
We hit a snag with various other work challenges.

So things are progressing smoothly!

Inner tube replating and polishing by Toyo Hardening

It comes back better than new, so it’s really appreciated.
It’s fine, but checking for bending and runout gives us peace of mind with double-checking.

Thread locker residue remains on the cylinder threads, so a thorough cleaning ensures stable tightening.
The front fork uses an early GR71 model.
The cylinder bolts are discontinued, so using the following alternative is recommended for peace of mind.

For now, I’ll assemble it according to STD specs.
Since there’s a top and bottom designation, I marked it UP so I won’t be confused next time (*´ω`*)

Vacuum bleed, proper air purge, and oil level adjustment.
The extension section was also wet blasted.

Headlight bracket mounted Suzuki-style with vibration damping

Since it’s 41φ, I’m planning to use one from a Bandit 400 this time.
When shipping costs more than the product, it’s a bit discouraging.

This Suzuki headlight bracket is exceptionally well-designed.
It provides proper floating while maintaining excellent serviceability, so I’ve been using it on various bikes for years.

The simplest and most straightforward method doesn’t fail.
Even if it crashes, I always think about how to resurrect it like a zombie, so I don’t cut corners…

The pitch is finished at 40mm, which everyone loves?

I was having a scrap material festival.
Maybe 5mm forward~
Hmm, maybe 10mm down~

Considering light axis adjustment, I’d like a bit more clearance~ I went through 4 different patterns of deliberation.
Finally settled on it (*´ω`*)

Just a piece of wood (*´ω`*)
Deciding the position takes more time than making it—that’s pretty common…

A clean, refreshing look?

With the clamp section gone, it looks very clean now.

By the way, the Bandit 400 bracket fits perfectly in this gap like Cinderella’s slipper! This saved us from having to do more machining.

I’ve been staring at the Beco fairing position online for a while.
Probably the upper cowl catches on the meter step… *based on online image comparison

That settled it for now.
Work and modifications that nobody notices or cares about = what I call secret tuning…
With the outside temperature dropping, I’ll finish it up early (*´ω`*)

To be continued
