With the right special tools, removal is easy
The starter clutch assembly is discontinued and no longer available. Only small roller parts are being supplied.
For now, we’ll see how it goes with the parts currently available, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll have to go the premium route.
There’s damage on the outer edge too. A familiar sight. The starter gear center isn’t too scarred up either, so that’s pretty good.
The crank taper was clean too, so I was relieved.
This M12 bolt isn’t supplied either. It wasn’t worn at all, so that’s good, but with older bikes, if problems develop during the process, it can be a real hassle.
First degreasing, second degreasing. Degreasing ensures thread locker sets properly
We’ll go bare on the taper. Make sure it pierces firmly into the taper and fits well by degreasing thoroughly.
Then tighten firmly and you’re done! Google You can’t hold it with just manpower, so make good use of inner tubes and such.
I think using gravity effectively and working without strain is the way to go.
