We’ll move on to work from the front. When we remove the wheel, we’ll also clean the inside of the fender.
There are areas the owner can handle and areas only we can clean, so we divide the work accordingly.
The axle looks fine.
The bearing condition and position are both good.
We’ll replenish the oil on the fork and clean the inside of the dust seal. We’ll also replenish oil between the top and bottom and wipe it down.
Let’s wash the caliper.
It’s shiny and clean now. The piston condition is also fine.
Let’s clean the disc thoroughly too. Once cleaned, it’ll shine so much you can see reflections in it.
It takes about 10 to 15 minutes per side, but I think it’s worth doing once in a while. (Some people do it after every ride, I hear.)
We’ll work the chain thoroughly and apply lubricant.
The underside is another area we want to keep clean.
While we’re at it, we should clean the slider too.
We’ll clean this area as well.
Polishing makes it shine like a completely different part. Of course, we need to apply rust preventative.
The shaft is in good condition.
Cleaning and lubricating really brings it back to life. Or rather, makes it feel young again.
If we keep doing this kind of maintenance, the same parts will stay in good condition for much longer.
We’ll check the bearing, clean the oil seal lip, and relubricate.
We’ll clean the brake disc the same way as the front.
