This is the Deco-mainte we performed last May. The content is the same as now, but we’ve made it even more thorough.
The side stand moves—there’s play in it. When it’s tight it’s stiff, but there’s wear; when it’s loose it moves smoothly, but there’s more play. This is one of those spots.
We need to know how much the clearance changes between the back and front of the stand side.
(Of course we check the frame side the same way.) If it’s open, we correct it with a press; if it was already sloppy to begin with, we install shims to adjust it. The lock nut must of course be replaced.
We also remove the chain puller so that future chain adjustments are easier—and that makes life easier for me too.
The front and rear bearings were already serviced before. I was relieved to see the distance collar and bearings in good position.
It’s still usable, but I think the damper could be replaced around the time of the next tire change.
The rear pads are in pretty rough shape, so let’s replace them.
