Smart Monitor? Smart Display? I’d be happy if the naming became standardized… that’s how I feel.
So the other day I installed it on my GSX1100S and finally got to test ride it (*´ω｀*) I haven’t configured the settings, but I could definitely feel the visibility and vibration. For your reference.
Power supply is essential! You can’t use it standalone.
The unit itself has no battery. You need to connect it to “vehicle power cable or smartphone.”
Well, I’m not sure if there’s really a need to use it standalone anyway…
There’s a TYPE-C port on the side of the unit.
Won’t fall off – easy to attach and detach with safe design
The fixing bolts on the back are built-in so they won’t fall off. Loosen these and pull the lever on the top and the monitor pops right off.
Very easy to attach and detach = high risk of theft if you don’t remove it This balance is tricky…
The actual size is about the same as a rear mirror (GSX1100S)
It’s about the same size as a Katana rear mirror. Palm-sized, you could say. Well, it’s easy to see. Very much so.
With a smartphone, “Hmm, what?” You should have less time loss from staring intently like that.
Left side is better for the monitor (subjective opinion) or right side
Front installation = hard to see the meter / hard to remove the key / need to move your eyes up and down. Left/right installation = nothing particularly obstructive / you can view it like you’re checking a mirror.
With left/right checking, you can faintly see forward too. Up and down is a bit tough. You can see it as an extension of checking the mirror, so left/right mounting seems better for the unit.
Easy to see – install it where you want it
For this type of item, “ease of attachment/detachment, visibility, and flexibility are key.” If any of these are lacking, it becomes a hassle in no time.
Even if it takes time and effort, install it in the position where you think “I want it here!” That’s the best approach. The included accessories might have limitations. On installation day, do the power supply work first, then think carefully about the placement. I think that’s the way to go.
Since it’s not mine, I haven’t synced it with a smartphone… How about before Golden Week? (*’ω’*)
