Vehicle: Kawasaki GPZ900R (Ninja)
Current Status: Full resurrection project in progress from the rear-ended “shrimp-bent” condition!
Today’s Work: Inspecting the front fork and steering stem area for bending, and replacing the front wheel bearings with new ones.
Reason for Work: The intense impact energy from a rear-end collision travels through the bike’s backbone (frame) and escapes to the front as well. Even if not visible to the eye, fork bending and bearing damage can be hidden, so thorough inspection is essential.

I’m smoothing out the rough areas where the cowl got all jagged.
For polishing this type of resin, “a glass nail file is effective” Well, since you use a nail file for grooming anyway, it’s really convenient to have one on hand.
Because it has a flange, it makes contact with a wide surface. The plating quality also looks great. Just using a part from another manufacturer makes it look sharp. Honda’s is a bit more affordable.
The axle shaft slides smoothly, so the fork is in good condition.
Checked the wheel and disc for bending. No issues found.
The disc thickness is at the limit, so I recommend replacing it as a set when the current pads wear out.
While I’m at it, I’ll replace the front wheel bearings too.
This time, since we replaced the rear wheel with a used one, we replaced the bearings as a set. It’s easier to manage if we replace the front ones at the same time too.
This bushing installation tool is so handy~ What’s best about it is that it’s in 1mm increments. You can use two of them to create different heights too, it’s amazing~
It had quite complex connections. I try to minimize the number of disconnections, and appropriately sized connectors like 110-series are really convenient. Labeling with P-TOUCH makes it safe for anyone to understand next time~
I’ve made the mysterious connector shape into a locking type.
I’ve also made a bracket for the Spherelight LED bulb module and turned it on~
I’ve replaced the clutch cover~

GPZ900R Resurrection: Front End Inspection and Wheel Bearing Replacement!
Vehicle: Kawasaki GPZ900R Ninja. Project: Continuing the recovery from a severe rear-end collision. Details: Repairing a rear-end collision isn’t just about fixing the back. The massive kinetic energy travels through the frame and stresses the front end as well. Today, we meticulously inspected the front forks and steering stem for any bends or hidden damage. Fortunately, the front structure held up well! However, to be absolutely safe, we replaced the front wheel bearings. An impact while the brakes are applied can easily damage the internal bearing races. Verdict: With fresh, properly greased wheel bearings pressed in, the front wheel spins flawlessly. With the front and rear suspension foundations now secured, we are taking solid steps toward getting this Ninja back on the road!
