THE Oil-Cooled! GSX-R1100J Non-Running Revival? Making Good Use of the 190,000 Yen Crowdfunding Plan?

This GSX-R1100J turned out to be a tougher opponent than I thought (*´ω`*)
Even so, nothing has happened that would break my spirit yet, so that’s still a relief.

So I’ll be posting blog entries in rapid succession!

When set to STD stance, the brake hose is too short.

Anyway, if you go all out, there’s no end to it, so I’ll plan out a reasonable budget.
AC-PERFORMANCELINE

The overall length of the installation is also short and has a design close to a standard banjo fitting.
It’s extremely simple and reasonably priced, so it’s quite a practical product, wouldn’t you say?

So I went ahead and ordered them.
There are both off-the-shelf and custom options, so choose based on your situation.

Measuring the actual length turned out to be surprisingly difficult and error-prone,
so it’s best to first order just the banjo fitting, secure it, and then use rubber hose to visualize the actual layout and length.

I’ll change the upper side to a 20-degree side neck.
The curved section might create a smarter layout if you think of it as metalwork.

Alright! With the front lifted, it looks like this.

The front brake hose
must have enough slack so thateven when the front fork is fully extended and fully compressed, it doesn’t contact anything. This is critical.
Brake hoses that are too longcan get pinched, caught, or cause problems during full stroke. That’s a major issue.
Of course, the longer the hose, the more stress it puts on each component.
Don’t assume it’s fine just because it’s metal.

I’ll set the front down and turn the handlebars left and right to check the layout.
When I turn the handlebars left, it contacts the upper or oil cooler bracket, so I’ll replace that too (*´ω`*)

Let me check inside the fuel tank with an endoscope

Ideally I’d like to use the thin 750 tank, but unfortunately it’s quite rusty.
The GSX-R1100J tank interior is nearly pristine, so I’ll use that instead.

Be very careful with fuel tank rust removal treatment.
Rust removal alone is fine,
but once you apply a coating, you basically can’t remove it.

And since fuel tanks have complex internal passages,
coating everything indiscriminately can cause serious problems.
This GSXR-series tank also has somewhat complex internal passages, so it’s something to watch out for.

I’ve been using this endoscope for quite a while now, and it’s truly amazing how convenient the world has become.
Being able to easily see places you can’t normally view is really wonderful.

An endoscope that can check invisible areas is genuinely useful, so having one on hand is invaluable.
I took a look around to see if there were any new developments.
There weren’t any particularly surprising advances.

What matters with an endoscope is“thin camera diameter,” “dual lens,” and “high image quality”
Having all these features makes it the most practical.

The fuel petcock is in bad shape, so I’m considering sourcing parts from a used GSX1100S.

I don’t recall replacing early-generation fuel petcocks in recent years.
Just in case, I rummaged through the stock box and found a Katana petcock.
It looks almost identical, so I thought maybeI could just swap the knob and use it, but it didn’t work.
The knob diameter is different… a subtle change had been made.

So I just got the filter and mounting O-ring from a good one.
Ideally I’d disassemble it, wet blast it, and reassemble,
but I think the rubber parts would tear.
I don’t want to dig myself into a deeper hole, so I’ll keep moving forward at a reasonable pace!
