Installing the DID “Evangelion” collaboration chain on the GSX1200S (Inazuma)! Adding dramatic individuality to the undercarriage

DID Chain EVA Racing Collaboration Chain 530NERV-120ZB 120L BLACK/REDCan we go with this?

I didn’t even know it existed…. It’s interesting to see various collaboration sales.
We’re aiming for a zero-storage policy for year-end storage work, but it’s not going smoothly.

From a security perspective, it seems like a good idea not to store things long-term these days.

If the teeth look a bit fine, replace it right away

Looking closely, it’s quite worn, so I’ll replace it along with this work.

Replacing the chain and sprocket together feels great.
The rattling from throttle on/off decreases, it becomes quieter, and shift feel definitely improves.
Of course, pushing and pulling become easier and the undercarriage looks cleaner—it’s a very cost-effective item.

EVA Racing Collaboration Chain 530NERV BLACK/RED Arrival?

DID Chain EVA Racing Collaboration Chain 530NERV-120ZB 120L BLACK/RED
I didn’t even know it existed.
Manufacturers are exploring various ideas.

Sprockets are trusted Sunstar brand.

Using new lock nuts and lock washers is more reliable.
Honestlythere was a time when the front lock nut price jumped to four digits

At that point, I thought it was over… an 18-year-old Suzuki.

*By the way, it went back to normal price later. What was that all about…? A transition period?

I want to clean the hub, so I remove the bearings

The original wheel bearings are non-sealed on the inside.
This grease is the lifeblood of the bearing, so when it runs out, the lifespan shortens dramatically.

Motorcycles tend to spend a lot of time on the side stand. *Leaning to the left.
Since they’re non-sealed, the right bearing’s grease tends to diminish (flow out) more easily.

If you find the original non-sealed bearing, it’s worth replacing immediately given the years that have passed.
Interestingly, when you shake the old removed bearing alone, it makes a loud rattling sound.
Even when you rotate it by hand, there’s minimal play, which is strange.

Wet blasting makes it shiny and smooth (*´ω`*)

The previous wet blasting was surprisingly difficult, but this cleans up effortlessly.
I really feel the importance of having the right tools.

If you’re considering investing in various equipment, the sooner the better.
Basically, prices are unlikely to drop, and manufacturers may not continue production indefinitely.
Plus, with the wave of motorcycle shop closures ahead, there won’t be time to think about equipment when work gets busy.

When should you do it? Now, right? But life doesn’t work that way…

The chain puller ends and supports in this area were processed before, but the new wet blasting is completely different.
When you add restoration elements to the work, the bike stays in good condition longer.

Bearings with double-sided seals, non-contact type

Warming it in the oven and it slides in with its own weight—pop!
I happened to be out of oil seals in stock, so I’ll do a temporary assembly for now.

Of course, I’ll replace the wheel-side bearings too.

The countershaft gets a thorough cleaning

The thread locker is firmly embedded, so let’s clean it off properly.
For rust prevention, I apply copper grease to“the inner collar and spline.”*Not on the threads.

I remove the original microcapsule thread locker and use liquid thread locker instead.
If I remove the thread locker from the nut side, it goes in by hand this far.

The thing is, with microcapsule thread locker attached,“you can’t tell if the threads are in good condition.”
If the anti-loosening effect is the same, I want to trust my hand feel…

At minimum two places. This time I bent and locked three places too.

Chain is managed by plate compression width and pin diameter after crimping

If you keep track with numbers, both your peace of mind and the machine’s reliability after delivery improve dramatically.
You could say it’s fine without checking.

“Absolute confidence comes from verification,” I think.

When the undercarriage is clean, it really feels good.

Getting along with tolerances (play)

I temporarily bolt the sprocket cover
and gently squeeze the clutch lever (2-5mm) to find the sweet spot, then lock the sprocket cover.

Even doing this doesn’t create dramatic changes
but“I want things to move smoothly somehow.”All parts have appropriate clearance.
If you assemble even just those areasin the right way, the machine finishes up nicely through accumulated small improvements.Don’t you think?

It continues a bit more like this.
