The Maintenance Blind Spot: Overhauling the GSX1100S Rear Brake Master Cylinder!
Vehicle: Suzuki GSX1100S Katana. Topic: Addressing a commonly neglected but crucial brake component. Details: Many riders are diligent about front brake maintenance but completely forget about the rear. Tucked away behind the footpegs, the rear master cylinder is exposed to exhaust heat and road grime, making it a true maintenance “blind spot.” Today, we overhauled the stock rear master cylinder on this legendary Katana. Upon disassembly, we found crystallized brake fluid and hardened rubber seals inside. After a thorough ultrasonic cleaning, we rebuilt it with a fresh OEM piston kit and seals. Verdict: The difference is night and day. The brake pedal feel is completely restored, providing that crisp, firm feedback you need for proper motorcycle control. Don’t forget your rear brakes!
