The Road to Recovery: Replacing the Swingarm on the Rear-Ended GPZ900R!
Vehicle: Kawasaki GPZ900R Ninja. Project: Starting the major repair process after a severe rear-end truck collision. Details: Last month, this Ninja arrived in a terrifying state—the rear subframe was bent completely upwards like a shrimp after being hit by a truck at a stoplight. Today, we officially begin the “Resurrection Project.” The first crucial step is addressing the rear suspension. The swingarm took the brunt of the direct impact. Even if not visibly crushed, the structural integrity is compromised. We completely removed the rear end, carefully inspected the main frame pivot points for cracks (thankfully, it survived!), and installed a straight, replacement swingarm. Verdict: It’s a long road ahead with subframe repairs and bodywork, but getting a solid, straight swingarm mounted is a massive first step towards getting this legendary Ninja back on the road!
